Growing up in Mexico City, during his college years at UNAM University, owner Luis Soto learned how to cook Tacos De Canasta to support himself and his family. Luis immigrated to California in 2005 and continued mastering his skills in cooking authentic street food style from "the biggest city in the continent" out of longing for flavors he loved so much. Motivated by family and friends' great feed back on his recipes and authenticity , Luis started selling his food at private events and markets with great success.
Overhelmed with the joy of great reviews on his staple dishes, Luis and his Turkish born wife Nursal, decided to bring the unique flavors of Mexico City to Salinas, Ca. El Canaston dream was born by two immigrant's love for food and commitment to serving best quality, real authentic street food in Monterey County.
